A spectre is haunting the internet—the spectre of Piracy. All the Powers of old Media have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Democrat and Republican, French and German, Artists and Corporate police spies.
Where is the privacy advocate in opposition that has not been decried as a Pirate by its opponents in power? Where is the Opposition that has not hurled back the branding reproach of Piracy, against the more advanced opposition parties, as well as against its reactionary adversaries?
Two things result from this fact:
1-Piracy is already acknowledged by all the old Powers of Media to be itself a Power.
2- It is high time that Pirates should openly, in the face of the whole world, publish their views, their aims, their tendencies, and meet this nursery tale of the Spectre of Piracy with a Manifesto of the Pirates themselves.
